Called into IOGear tech support and after 40 minutes of waiting I got a voicemail that just said "Tech Support" and beeped. About 4 hours later I called again and after waiting about 25 minutes got a tech support person who told me to try re-connecting both computers again.
REQUESTING A REFUND` So I did and again only one machine works.
WOW. This is not a good product nor is the tech support worth the 40 minute hold time.
Tried setting it up and only one computer would work. Left a message, figured it might be lunch time.
When I use the USB ports in the front for the KB and mouse it freezes constantly for 1-3 seconds.
'Techs' at Iogear said to upgrade the firmware on the KVM, which I did. They're not even in India. No keyboard or mouse response. Keyboard, mouse and monitor work fine on the mini. I don't recommend using this 'switch'.
I got the KVM switch. Mouse moved just fine, but wouldn't click. Now, only the video works on the G3 side. especially when tech support is so lacking,,,oh,,, yes, they did tell me to switch cables, unplug and replug, shut down and start up,, blah blah. My setup is a G4 Mac Mini, and a beige G3--both of which work just fine on their own.
Same on the G3 EXCEPT no mouse click. And the tech 'wizards' at Iogear (who all use voice over and sound like fish gurgling in a toilet bowl) have no clue what to do.
Easy to use. Good customer support. Simple to set up. Does what it is supposed to do.
I finally caught that trick but it was easily missed if you're installing in a hurry. The upside is that you can put a CD in one computer and listen while working with a memory hog program on the other computer.I would recommend this product. Everything is connected and working well. The one thing I had problems with at first was that you have to hold the switch button for two seconds (not just a quick click) if you want ALL of the peripherals to be transferred to the other computer. There's even an additional usb slot for my external hard drive. I have the Microsoft Wireless 5000 keyboard and mouse and wanted my new Vista platform desktop to share the mouse, keyboard, monitor, audio and printer with my old reliable XP desktop. I bought this product because I had heard it would work with a wireless keyboard and mouse. It seems to work just fine. I managed to miss this point when reading the documentation and couldn't understand why I was getting sound from one computer while the monitor, mouse and keyboard were working with the other.
The product was pretty easy to connect to both computers, and it's sleek design is great.
